I was so excited to see this when I first clicked on the link, as this is exactly the kind of project I've been wishing existed.
So sad that it says it closed in 2014๐ข
If only someone would pick this up again and create a WordPress comment plugin using it, it would be so much better than having everyone train Google's AI's and improve Google's map data...
@geniusmusing @brandon It has been a few years since I last installed #Wordpress, but that was how it was for them, too. Upload, add the database information, create an admin account, start using your new blog.
(Though I admit the built in stats were becoming more and more dependent on Wordpress dot com for their functionality last I checked.)
I get that developers want / need to make a living off of their software, but having a WordPress plugin like wp-fail2ban offer me a subscription service in my WordPress site dashboard (or any plugin for that matter) will always make me leery of using that plugin.

Implementing AP on Diaspora, in the right from, would also allow Diaspora users to comment on #WordPress blogs that use AP plug-ins like #Pterotype. So that's a whole different set of users Diaspora users are being denied the ability to interact with: https://getpterotype.com/
Had my first run in with Gutenberg in #WordPress. Couldn't get an image the way I wanted, huh. Anyhow, figured it didn't affect me, except "disabling the visual editor" doesn't really do anything! So I had to install Classic Editor plugin to turn off *that* visual editor!
@brennen Hmmm, not sure that is how it's described. It's the new visual editor called #Gutenberg. It is very different from how #WordPress has always been, and is causing me a lot of issues personally (I host something like 80 sites) since a lot of themes my users have are not playing well. Also, this is all very strange, probably the most dramatic thing to happen in the project. It isn't accessible. I don't know, *very strange*.
I've been sort of dragging my feet recently due to being spread a little bit thin. There are some outstanding issues with my frontend theme, and while I could try to tackle it on my own, I would really like to launch #WeDistribute before the year ends.
If there's anyone in the fediverse that specializes in #WordPress frontend development, please let me know! I would be willing to pay you for your work, and plug your portfolio.
