After rumors fly on social sites, school superintendent in Chippewa Falls #WI issues statement about an incident at the middle school.
Not satisfying to read, as they're saying that they alone can decide whether parents have enough information to allow them to take protective actions over their children. If this happened locally, I would support an effort to recall the school board for this.
You don't have to use inflammatory language, just say that you have information about a possible threat, and that the police are actively involved in ensuring safety. Concealing these things just teaches parents not to trust you.
Health worker in #WI deliberately spoils 500 doses of #COVID-19 vaccine.
I'm wondering if this is someone that is concerned about the greatly shortened testing period that these vaccines have gone through. I saw someone recently talking about the potential for antibodies worsening the disease's effects in a year or two, saying that the accelerated testing period could allow such longer-term side-effects to slip through unnoticed until much of the world's population is already vaccinated.
No changes from yesterday's post. I don't have the time to follow-up with everyone individually, sadly. Please feel free to translate this as many of the regions left are predominantly not English-speaking.
It's that time again. We are looking for regional judges for the Creative Commons Community Music Awards. Please let me know if you would be interested in taking a region.
The regions we have available are as follows (two regions are already taken): Mid-West - #ND, #SD, #NE, #KS, #MO, #IA, #MN, #WI, #IL, #IN, #MI, #OH Southwest - #OK, #TX, #NM, #AZ
In the future, we would love to break the regions up more, but having smaller regions this year has proved unmanageable. How much of that is due to covid? Who knows.
I have been told in the past that once-a-day posts are fine but any more than that gets tiresome. I doubt I will post daily, but if I post about this too much, please let me know!

#TDCristobal is set to be only the fourth tropical cyclone known to have passed over #WI ... by that time, it shouldn't be tropical any more, but I don't think that matters for record-keeping purposes.
@feld@bikeshed.party is talking about drive-in movies. Right now, they'd be a big seller, if they were allowed to be open. He says they are not allowed in his state ( #WI, I believe ). There was one in the #Sac area of #NorCal, but even if they're open, there's zero chance I'd drive 16 hours round-trip for a movie.
He informed me that his girlfriend's new job pays way more than we'd ever get working for $EMPLOYER (at least not without some insane overtime or moving to Washington, #DC).
For some reason, he's convinced that he owes me a breadmaker. He's thinking he wants to ship it here while I'm idle.
He was happy with the Superbowl results. He did make it to #WI a couple of times to watch Green Bay Packers play, and was disappointed that they weren't in "the big game".
Please feel free to translate this post into whatever language would be useful for finding people in the region, but please note that I speak only English, so it will be difficult for me to coordinate with someone that does not speak at least some English.
If some wants to step up and be a coordinator for Spanish or some other language, we would love the help.
I am going to try to keep up with this as a dailyish post until I accounted for all of the regions.
