I'm having no such trouble. Most likely, as November approaches, I'll take a look at third party candidates and choose one of them to receive my vote. I haven't voted for #twin_parties presidential candidates in sixteen years.
@msh@sean@Mainebot That depends on what state you're in. In California, I can register "decline to state" and I'm not associated with any party (defaults to nearly-empty primary ballot, but I could request a party ballot for certain parties).
It is possible that some states may require you to join a party (likely one of the #twin_parties).
@tk@bbs.kawa-kun.com No idea yet. The ones I've looked at are diarrhea splatters on the sides of society's toilet bowl, but I've only looked at #twin_parties candidates so far.
#Yang is up next, but I probably won't start more #pollies research until this weekend. #US_Pol
So far, I find the Democratic candidates I've looked at unsuitable (one of them in a "never vote for $PERSON" way), and the Republicans appear not to have any serious challengers to the current occupant. If the #Twin_Parties continue to disappoint, I'll have to look at 3rd parties.
Well, as you can tell, today's political focus has been #Biden.
I think I'll look more at Yang next. At least most of what I've seen en passant has been favorable. I'm kind of tired of candidates that feel like they'll destroy the country if they're elected. As I often say, I really wish people would look beyond the #twin_parties for electoral choices. I know that somewhere in our 300 million people, we have people who would do a better job than the major candidates of the #Democrats and #Republicans (also known as "The twin parties). We just can't find them because we let these party organizations filter out decent candidates.
Reading about #Biden's son and #Ukraine and #China. Starting to look like the former VP does indeed have a corruption problem, and may indeed lose in the general election once the big media companies are forced to report it due to #Trump campaign bringing it up.
I really do not like the way most people will not even consider voting for a candidate that is not part of the #twin_parties.
As you know, I generally avoid #politics and #pollies (politicians). But I’m reading a little bit more these days in preparation for the election in November. So far, I’m still not likely to support any #twin_parties candidate. #uspol
Congratulations, David, you've discovered that the #twin_parties and people holding extreme left / right political views hate their opponents, believing those opponents to be immoral and unethical at their core.
@kai Sadly, I see the #twin_parties repeating last election's mistakes. If it becomes another "which one do you hate least" contest, America could be surprised (again) by a Trump victory.
Come on, Dems and Repubs, if you're going to duopolize our electoral system, at least give us good choices.
I've said for years that taxes must rise (or spending must decrease, but I don't see any evidence that either of the #twinparties will ever do that). Although the article doesn't say it, the national debt and the annual federal deficit have been hitting "record levels" just about every year, probably since at least 2001.
@kai I'm not part of either of the #TwinParties, but I'd be surprised (again!) if Trump was re-elected. I am aware that the US economy is doing better now than it has in twenty years (that's the administrations of Clinton, Bush Jr, Obama), but the key under-30 voters weren't old enough to remember.
@ragamuffinjim I have to vote for the local offices, since they have more impact on what happens to the folks at home. I don't have any information on the state judges, so I'm leaving those offices blank. I'm also trying not to support the #twin_parties, so I may leave most of the statewide offices blank as well.
@natecull I don't know when it started, but as someone who does not support the #twin_parties, I don't want either party to be able to impose their agendas on the rest of us. So, voters, please split your votes, or even better, choose third parties.
