It never worked right (which I put down to Apple restrictions on background apps), but after an update, I could not even find my ‘roster’ of contacts. I understand it is an awful platform, but you don’t have to make things worse.
I may try #SiskinIM (which I believe is made by the #Tigase folks) next. I do understand that Apple’s background app restrictions will also make that one stink, but hopefully they won’t make any ruinous choices of their own. -

You can try #ejabberd, #OpenFire, or (according to a certain account here) #Tigase in those situations. !XMPP -

I will probably try it out soon. #Monal, my current client, appears to only operate when in the foreground. (Likewise for the #Mutter #IRC client, so that may be an #Apple restriction.) -
Tigase (tigase@mastodon.technology)'s status on Friday, 08-Mar-2019 16:34:22 UTC Tigase @lnxw48a1 what's more - we create an #iot solution based on #raspberrypi and #tigase #xmpp server - https://iot1.cloud/ - you can have your own, local, #opensource and #foss based solution to your #iot needs

Tigase (tigase@mastodon.technology)'s status on Friday, 08-Mar-2019 16:33:00 UTC Tigase @lnxw48a1 big deployment doesn't necessarily mean enterprise :-) however, it looks like we should better word our introduction - stating that #Tigase powers big installation only means that it's capable, but you can run your own #xmpp service even for a couple of users with easy installation (well, in our opinion but we would love to hear your opinion)! You can even run #tigase on #raspberrypi ! :-)

One individual asked another individual which !XMPP server software the second person had used. I responded with the names of the two that I usually see in the “single user or small group” context. No one was “recommending” software, nor was anyone seeking recommendations. In that context, mentioning #Tigase #XMPP server would have been the wrong thing to do. -

I am aware of the public server ( sure.im and other names ), and I am aware of the Tigase client software for #Android. I am not unaware of your project. But if the project is now looking to expand into small scale use, I’m glad to hear it. -
Tigase (tigase@mastodon.technology)'s status on Friday, 08-Mar-2019 13:20:30 UTC Tigase @lnxw48a1 #tigase is aim at all sorts of deployments - we try to make the installation as easy as possible (see https://docs.tigase.net/tigase-server/8.0.0/Administration_Guide/html/#QuickStart) however it looks like there is a problem with "discoverability", hence my previous question about your recommendation. What made you believe that we #tigase #XMPP server is aimed at "enterprise" deployments?

In the above post from 2108-12-09, I said "Those are the two !XMPP servers that most people seem to use." -
Tigase (tigase@mastodon.technology)'s status on Thursday, 07-Mar-2019 22:18:30 UTC Tigase consider this a "research question" but - why do you consider only those two #xmpp servers? Have you considered #Tigase and dismissed it for some reason?
