I thought about bringing the #PSP or the #PSVita with me, but instead I brought the Nintendo #Switch and the #3DS. Not that I’ve had any time to play, but in over a month, I haven’t even turned either one on.
I think it is official: I may say I like these Nintendo systems, but the way I avoid playing them says otherwise. With the Sony handhelds, I still don’t play a lot, but when I do, I enjoy it … and I don’t avoid them out of dread.

#Sony announces changes for #PS3, #PSVita, #PSP platforms:
We are closing PlayStation™Store on PlayStation®3 on July 2nd, 2021 and on PlayStation®Vita devices on August 27th 2021. Additionally, the remaining purchase functionality for PSP™ (PlayStation®Portable) will also retire on July 2nd, 2021. After thoughtful consideration, we decided to make these changes in an effort to focus our resources for PlayStation Store on PlayStation®4 and PlayStation®5, which will enable us to enhance the customer experience even further. We thank you for your support on these platforms throughout the years.
What does this mean for you?
You will no longer be able to purchase PS3, PS Vita and PSP digital content, including games and video content.
You will also no longer be able to make in-game purchases through games on PS3, PS Vita and PSP.
While the PSP storefront was previously closed in 2016, the remaining PSP purchase functionality (e.g. in-game purchases) will now be fully retired.

It could just be that I never owned or pkayed any #Nintendo devices, but I find that I rarely play more than 10 minutes at a time on #Switch, #Wii-U, or #3DS, while I can play for up to an hour on #PSP and #PSVita.
I even brought the 3DS on my trip.
-
And that's enough for this play session. Even games that are enjoyable, on #3DS, I don't want to play very long. Usually 20-30 minutes and I'm done.
I know Sony did not sell as many #PSP and #PSVita units as Nintendo sold of their contemporary handhelds, but the Sony handhelds and the games for them are just more fun.

Do I try to make today (Saturday!) a productive day, or do I make it a play some games day? It has been a couple of weeks since I last played anything on either the #PS4 or the #Switch ... and longer than that for the #PS3 or any of the handhelds ( #PSP, #PSVita, #3DS ).

I was looking back at the videogame console purchase history. I'm not even sure I'm including every item when I say I bought 5 Nintendo #Switch consoles, 8 Sony #PS4 consoles something like 6 or 8 #PSVita & #PSP handhelds and 6 #2DS & #3DS handhelds, 2 #Wii-U consoles and 2 #PS3 consoles and 2 #XBox consoles (whichever generation was contemporary with the PS3).
(Not all for me. Sons, grandkids, and certain others got most of those.)

@thatbrickster When I'm near a Game Stop and have a little extra, I go in and look to see whether they have some #2DS / #3DS game my grandkids might like. After all, I did buy them the handhelds, so if I can continue to make it useful to them, I will.
I admit that both the #PSP and the #PSVita are more fun to play. I just didn't buy those for them.

So often, I turn on the #3DS, click to start a game, then turn the whole thing off while it's still loading. I think I'll go back to having the #PSVita as my travelling game system.

@kelbot If you happen to visit #Baton_Rouge, #LA, GameStop sent me to a locally-owned competing store named GameWare to get a used #PSP a few years ago after my old one's battery swelled up. I bought 2 PSPs and a #PSVita, but sent one PSP to my son. Pricing seemed high, but I was there and I want the systems right away.
-
@1iceloops123 I still have a #PSVita and a #PSP, but they are in SoCal.
-
So I think I can say it now. I have only tried a limited selection of games ( with zero overlap ), but I think I enjoy playing #PSVita more than I enjoy playing #3DS. ( #PSP was probably even more enjoyable, but I haven't played it in a few years. )

Laptop stays home. I think I will bring both the #PSVita and the 3DS. I think I’m a little more likely to play with the Vita than the #3DS, but if I tire of the games I bring, I can get new games for the Nintendo product, but not for the Sony product.
-
Likewise, am I more likely to play the #3DS, #PSP, or #PSVita?
-
I currently have a #PS2, a #PS3, a #PS4, a #PSP, and a #PSVita. All of the above were acquired since the PS4's release. (I bought a PS3 when I was in #NE in 2008, but I shipped it home and #sonTwo had taken possession of it.)

@mike I've been up five hours. I'm waiting for #GameStop to open, so I can get a game for the #PSVita.
-
"Sonic & All Stars Racing Trans" -- $20 used.
"Terraria" -- $20 used.
What I really want is to buy one for myself and one or two each to send out with the extra #PSVita devices that I'm shipping out Wednesday.
I guess I could ask "Which games from this list do you want?"
-
Looking over the list of available games in the local #GameStop store for the #PSVita. Since I'm awake after getting 2.5 hours of #sleep, according to the tracker.
-
Bringing the #PSVita and the #3DS along with me. Never got to play with the #PS3 or #PS4 this trip, and the #Wii-U and #Switch are still in their boxes under my desk.
-
Decided: I'm taking mobiles: #3DS, #PSP, #PSVita with me. Leaving all consoles: #PS3, #PS4, #Wii-U, #Switch.
-
What travels with me this time? The #PSP? The #PSVita? The #3DS? Too tired to decide that now. Leave it for later in the packing process.
