Up until then, I had OpenOffice (formerly OOo [OpenOffice.org]) on some computers, and #LibreOffice on others (and occasionally both), but at that point, I switched completely.
To be honest, I preferred #KOffice until they changed it on the way to becoming #Calligra. -
Ji Fu (fu@libranet.de)'s status on Thursday, 24-Aug-2023 17:41:07 UTC Ji Fu Just a reminder #OpenOffice still exists! openoffice.apache.org/blog/ann… I personally still prefer it over #LibreOffice. I'm all for less churn, more stability, and smaller learning curves. I still use both, though, as the improvements to LibreOffice #Draw, particularly the ability to open #Microsoft #Visio files is useful for me. #Apache #FreeSoftware #GNU #Linux (and #windows & #MacOS too if you must) -

Back in the day, they used a #OpenOffice library as a background process. It could convert to and from any file formats that OO supported. -
Strypey (strypey@mastodon.nzoss.nz)'s status on Wednesday, 06-Nov-2019 17:25:11 UTC Strypey Few concepts are so perplexing, to those who lack a hacker sense of irony, than the #BDFL title. Every word is the opposite of how #OpenSource really works. "Dictator for life" is really only as long as they are widely seen by the contributor community as being beneficial to the project ("benevolent"). Since the community can fork around project leaders at any time (like the #LibreOffice hackers forking around the #OpenOffice leaders), they remain "dictator" only by consent of the "dictated to".

She’s been Windows only ever since.

From what I've read, almost all development happens in #LibreOffice for the past year or two. -

I know #Apache is religious about its license, but it is long past time for the Apache OpenOffice project to fold into The Document Foundation and the OO software into #LibreOffice.
