    The Black Trans Travel Fund is a mutual-aid project developed in order to help provide Black transgender women with the financial resources needed to be able to self-determine safer alternatives to travel, where women feel less likely to experience verbal harassment or physical harm. This project was created out of direct response to the relentless and unacceptable violence Black transgender women across the country have been experiencing. We are currently providing our service to Black trans women in New York and New Jersey, and will be working to expand our efforts to other states soon!

    @kai I haven't lived in the #Los_Angeles metro since the 1980s, but in most areas there was one locally-owned pizzaria that was head and shoulders above the national chains. This still seems to be true in other parts of #SoCal.
    .
    OTOH, I tried #pizza in Northern #NJ (Middlesex County / Somerset County area) and did not like it, so my opinion may not count for much.

    I was working in #NJ in 2007. There was a guy that would call my work cell around 21:45 most nights because he was having trouble getting onto the organization's VPN. I'd walk him through the process night after night. One night, I was on the phone with #sonTwo when this employee called.

    I came to work the next morning and told my boss that I was not happy about the situation. He went to the guy's boss and said something to the effect that any call to IT staff after hours would require that department to pay our overtime and the guy's boss would have to approve it.

    Sure enough, the guy called again that night. I asked him for the OT approval code that his boss had to have given him. He never called again.

    There was a diner in Northern #NJ when I was there over a decade ago that was half pink and half I think blue, with white and black accents in both sections. It was really cool looking. I don't really remember the food, but I was there with some co-workers, watching the photos that family members sent from #sonTwo's high school graduation. It was a really good experience. I always said I wanted to go back again.

    I haven't been everywhere in the country, but out of the places where I have been, the scariest drivers are in Boston #MA and in northern #NJ between Trenton and NYC. "Horrible mention" goes to drivers on CA-91 between Anaheim and Riverside and to drivers on PR-22, PR-2, PR-18, PR-1 between San Juan and Cauguas.

    @rye Boston, #MA, was a scary place to drive, at least for an outsider. Northern #NJ is also crazy, because of the rage that most drivers exhibit in every interaction. #Los_Angeles, #CA, drivers are also angry, but not like NJ.

    BTW, drivers behave differently in different parts of !SoCal. I grew up in a residential suburb where most drivers were polite. I now live in an outlying area where most people commute 2-5 hours a day and someone who will make that commute longer is a mortal enemy.
