    There's also regular Keepass, (keepass2 in Debian and Ubuntu), but it is based on the Microsoft dotnet platform, so it requires Mono. I try not to install #Mono on any non-Windows platforms (and it really isn't needed on Windows, since much of dotnet is already installed.

    @amic There is #Mono (another implementation of the MSFT ".Net" platform). I think the company behind Mono is currently owned by Microsoft.

    @float13 looks like 1.0 was Windows only. While 2.0 is a total rewrite:

    2.0 is cross-platform using #Mono, which means its written in C#. That seems an odd choice, and reveals its Windows origins, but @wolftune adopted it on the advice of someone who seems to know his tech security pretty well, so ...

    I'm reading a document that recommends not installing #Mono (the C# thingie) because it opens up your computer to attacks since Mono binaries are cross-platform, like Java JAR files, I guess.

    Surely this is too much paranoia?
