@sir just out of curiosity, why this and not build out from an existing free code Minecraft clone like #Minetest? I presume you have reasons and I'd love a peek into your thinking here.

made a quick and dirty mod for #minetest that adds a "radar" item that works same way the "mapping kit" item works.

Just to be clear, if I did host a #minetest server, it would be on the basis of "hang out and do whatever you want. If you miss something from a Minecraft mod, make it a mod and we'll add it" -

@farlion Hinsichtlich Photoshop ging es mir auch ähnlich. Aber als Adobe diese "Creative Cloud" ankündigte war meine Enttäuschung so herbe und die Zeit tatsächlich günstig für mich, dass ich den Wechsel begann. Bei Office liegt das auch ähnlich: Habe sogar noch Office 2007 komplett in der Originalverpackung im Schrank gehabt. Aber ich wollte nicht mehr eingeschränkt werden. Und dabei gab und gibt es rund um quelloffene Grafikbearbeitung noch heute so viel für mich zum Entdecken. Ich möchte immer noch für #Minetest beispielsweise ein schönes Intro erstellen, um endlich mit einer langen Videoreihe beginnen zu können. :D Und wenn ich lese, dass die Macher hinter Projekten wie "Big Buck Bunny" viel diese Werkzeuge eingesetzt haben ... so fühle ich mich angesprochen und tiefer zu "graben". -

We have been playing a lot of #minetest again, and I was starting to wonder if I could sneak some programming in, so I looked for a redstone mod.
http://mesecons.net is redstone on steroids for Minetest:

@frank Hmm, da habe ich irgendwann erkannt, dass die moderneren Spiele nicht so wirklich mehr mein Bereich sind. Es wiederholt sich sehr viel und wirklich Spass haben mir zuletzt die alten Klassiker und quelloffenen Spiele bereitet - also auch #Minetest und #Warzone-2100. :)
Und natürlich ... Emulatoren sind das Eine, wenn ich es etwas höher aufgelöst haben mag: "Yoshi's Island" sieht einfach noch heute toll aus und "Sonic" mit HQ-Scaling ist klasse. Aber dann nochmals die alten Klassiker auf dem Originalsystem? Klasse! -

Okay, that's kind of a dumb action when websites about "Gaming on Linux" introduces more about the proprietary Minecraft instead writing more about #Minetest. Seems for me that people just want a basic "free system" but afterwards tryout again building another unixoid Windows. And that's the basic problem at all! Free as in freedom? Kind of a joke when it comes to some users and they just see this as a toolset, being completely free of any ideology. Well, enough said with: Just dumb! #Stop-Playing-Bullshit -

So langsam komme ich mit meinem #odroidxu4 #minetest Server in Fahrt :minetest: !
Die mods scheinen jetzt alle zu funktionieren und ich bohre mich jetzt in dem Untergrund, um mal was anderes als Kohle zu finden.
Es ist zwar noch nicht ganz das feature-niveau wie bei #litwr, aber dafür #foss und setzt nicht auf #crappyjava auf. Entsprechend erscheint es deutlich weniger Ressourcen-hungrig als #minecraft.
Macht Spaß! -

@kame Aber leider inzwischen im Besitz von #Microsoft und das ist definitiv schade. Noch dazu ist der Launcher jetzt stetig mit Online-Funktion. Also alles in allem? #Minetest gefällt mir besser. -

@kame Ja, habe ich auch ausprobiert aber #Minetest hat mich hinsichtlich der Modifikationen einfach noch mehr überzeugt. Unglaublich was man dort Alles machen kann. :) -

Stayed up late learning a little bit about some #Minetest and certain mod APIs to fulfill the requests of my two children: one dragon that "shoots" (spawns) ghosts, and another orange dragon that shoots oranges.
I don't have time to re-learn 3d modelling with Blender, so we just modified textures of existing dragons of one of the mods during the day (in #GIMP), which they had fun with. I did some hacking during the day, but I needed to do too much research, so it was hard to keep them engaged with a combination of Lua scripting and web browsing.
So they'll be excited in the morning. I added other small features they won't be expecting and learned (from code) some gameplay features we were unaware of. Maybe they'll get interested in hacking it themselves if I show them how easy it is to make certain tweaks, and if factor any new code I write in such a way as well.
