    My mom and my nephew were both in car accidents within a two day period. Mom has some soreness from the seat belt and airbag, and her vehicle is probably going to be scrapped. #lazyNephew had no injuries and his pregnant girlfriend had a two-day hospitalization. Their vehicle requires some repairs, but it should be fixable.

    The other party in Mom's accident, the one that ran a red light to turn at the poorly designed intersection, is claiming an injury. And of course, my mom was not using either one of her dashcams that her children have paid for.

    One of my brothers says that he thinks it is time for her to give up driving anyway, but living in a place that is not pedestrian friendly (and her being mobility impaired anyway), she won't voluntarily give up driving.

    Two of my brothers stopped by last weekend. Their visits were preplanned, but the timing was good, as both Mom and #lazyNephew were in car accidents within the past few days and they were able to check on Mom.

    Everyone is okay. They are both waiting for auto insurers to decide on auto repairs.

    I also learned that one of my brother's friends from high school had cataract surgery and is driving again.

    Both brothers had a laugh at video of #GS4's birthday (recently turned 2 years old) where he's offering to send me his cake through the tablet screen.

    One good thing that is coming out of this move is that #faveNephew is putting his cousin #lazyNephew in touch with local housing assistance resources. Hopefully, LN and his GF will be able to pay their bills as they stay nearer to their $EMPLOYER. (He definitely needs to look outside the company. Even if he thinks of them as "home", by leaving for a few years and then returning, he can get raises and promotions that he'd never qualify for if he stayed inside the organization.

    I was speaking with #lazyNephew about #INET speeds recently. He was complaining that home was only getting 90Mbps up and 90Mbps down (it had been 50Mbps/50Mbps when I was there) and I reminded him that it used to be 6Mbps down, 1 to 2 Mbps up.

    Had a phone call with #lazyNephew, who swears that he's tired of where he is in life and is willing to work to get ahead. He's enrolled in some online training, and mentioned that he needs a computer.

    Being that he's only working part-time, I know it will take a while to save up the funds, so I agreed to send him some money to enable him to buy something used on Ebay or a similar site.

    Thirty year old #lazyNephew texted me to say his GPU no longer works. At a time when chip shortages, scalpers, and cryptocurrency miners have driven the prices sky-high. I think he's just going to have to wait a while.

    I decided to get I heart NY mugs for everyone. All three boys and their wives, my mom, the sister and #lazyNephew who live in the same house as I do, and #GS1 and #GS2. I walked into this gift shop and bought a whole mess of mugs. And now I think I still need a couple more.

    I haven’t been doing it since Puerto Rico, but it is traditional that the grandkids all get t-shirts with the local university’s name and logo. I have not started looking for those yet.

    It is also time to start thinking about replacing my backpack. I’ve only had it for a couple of months (I bought it in New Jersey #NJ)

    Asked #lazyNephew to check the Ethernet cables to find out whether my room is disconnected. I have three Raspberry Pi devices running #BOINC, and none of them have reported in since the nine-day Internet outage that began 2021-10-24.

    I asked #lazyNephew to clean the tub 🛁 after he showers 🚿. There’s no reason why everyone else should clean 🧽 up after a man who is nearly thirty years old.

    #lazyNephew fell in the shower recently. He's been off work for a few days because he cannot perform his job duties. Turns out his 20 hours / week schedule is not enough to keep medical coverage, so he is uninsured.

    My sister took one of her cats (almost 14 years old) to the vet today. #lazyNephew said the cat has been unable to walk for a couple of days.

    I ordered almost everything while I was working in Puerto Rico, but didn't get a job where I could come home every night, so the replacement never completed.

    #Daddy_A, #lazyNephew, and a couple of others also got partial or complete replacements.

    #lazyNephew wants his own #NAS with a 16TB drive. I sent a link to a $100 single-bay Synology model, but said that his desired drive won't be affordable before he's 35. I think he will decide this entry-level device isn't good enough.

    Oh, well. When he's 50 and still doesn't have one, he'll realize that you do what you can with what you have.
