      The Kentucky Bend, variously called the New Madrid Bend, Madrid Bend, Bessie Bend, or Bubbleland, is an exclave of Fulton County, Kentucky, encircled by the states of Tennessee and Missouri. It is a portion of a peninsula defined by an oxbow loop meander of the Mississippi River, and its inclusion in the state of Kentucky stems from uncertainties of the course of the Mississippi River when the boundary between Tennessee and Kentucky was established. Kentucky Bend is the extreme southwestern corner of Kentucky. The peninsula is traversed by the southern line of latitude of the state of Kentucky, at the banks of the Mississippi River. The only highway into the area is Tennessee State Route 22, whose continuation into Kentucky Bend at one time was signed as Kentucky State Route 313. As of the 2010 census, the population was 18 persons in this area, tabulated as the Kentucky Bend Census County Division. The mailing address of the area is Tiptonville, Tennessee. New Madrid, Missouri is directly across the river to the north, but it is not connected to the bend by road or ferry. ...

      In news from Kentucky, The Louisville Courier-Journal has revealed the Louisville Police Department hid nearly 750,000 records documenting how two city police officers sexually abused minors. The youths were abused while taking part in the Explorer Scouts program, which was created for young people interested in law enforcement careers. Meanwhile, another woman in Louisville has accused former officer Brett Hankison of sexually abusing her in 2018. Nine other women provided statements in the lawsuit. In September, Hankison was indicted for shooting into the apartment of a neighbor during the deadly no-knock raid that ended Breonna Taylor’s life in March.

    post-tropical cyclone #Zeta continues to move rapidly. The center of the storm is over Delaware, about to cross into the ocean (most of the storm is already at sea). Yesterday afternoon / evening, it was heading into Louisiana and Mississippi.

    No charges against the officers for breaking into her apartment and precipitating a shootout which took Breonna Taylor's life. One officer indicted for endangering neighbors with a shot that went into the neighboring apartment.

    "More than six months after emergency medical worker Breonna Taylor was shot dead by police in her Louisville home, a grand jury has indicted one officer in relation to shooting into her neighbor's apartment — but no officers were charged for their role in Taylor's death. Former officer Brett Hankison was indicted on three counts of wanton endangerment and two other officers who opened fire were not indicted."

    It seems like Louisville, #KY, WANTS their city burned down.

      On June 1, 2020, David McAtee, an African-American man, was fatally shot by law enforcement in Louisville, Kentucky, during protests over the deaths of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor. The Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD) and Kentucky National Guard were in the area to enforce a curfew. According to officials, the police and soldiers were fired upon, and two Louisville officers and two National Guardsmen returned fire, killing McAtee. The body cams of the police involved were deactivated during the shooting. Louisville police chief Steve Conrad was fired hours later. Incident McAtee, who ran a barbecue stand known as Yaya's BBQ Shack, and his mother, Odessa Riley, were present at a large gathering in the parking lot of a local food market that the Louisville Police and Kentucky National Guard were attempting to disperse. McAtee's barbecue stand was next to the parking lot where the crowd had gathered.
