    In a #Jenkins multi-branch pipeline, is there magic to make checkout scm fetch both the pre-merged PR commit as well as the target branch, or do I need to git fetch origin refs/heads/${CHANGE_TARGET}:refs/heads/${CHANGE_TARGET} myself, and take care of any variation in remote name, authentication, etc?

    It's #SonarQube that wants the target branch available by name to correctly analyze what change the PR introduces. Without this it can only analyze the project as a whole.

    #Jenkins’ history (see Wikipedia articles for Hudson and Jenkins) is really interesting. It was originally #Hudson, at #Sun. When #Oracle bought Sun, around 2010, they sought to trademark the Hudson name, so the majority of the project renamed and moved the project out from under Oracle’s control.

    Oracle eventually contributed the Hudson project, trademarks, and other β€œIP” to the #Eclipse Foundation, but failed to win back the community. The project was relicensed from #LGPL to Eclipse Public License, but that also failed to shift the momentum from Jenkins to Hudson. By 2016 or 2017, the Hudson project announced its demise.

    1. Hudson (software)
      Hudson is a continuous integration (CI) tool written in Java, which runs in a servlet container such as Apache Tomcat or the GlassFish application server. It supports SCM tools including CVS, Subversion, Git, Perforce, Clearcase and RTC, and can execute Apache Ant and Apache Maven based projects, as well as arbitrary shell scripts and Windows batch commands. The primary developer of Hudson was Kohsuke Kawaguchi, who worked for Sun Microsystems at the time. Released under the MIT License, Hudson is free software.Builds can be started by various means, including scheduling via a cron-like mechanism, building when other builds have completed, and by requesting a specific build URL. Hudson became a popular alternative to CruiseControl and other open-source build servers in 2008. At JavaOne conference in May 2008, it was the winner of Duke's Choice Award in the Developer Solutions category.When Oracle bought Sun, it declared its intention to trademark the Hudson name, and development began on a commercial version. It was decided by the majority of the development community, including Kawaguchi, to continue the project under the name Jenkins in early 2011....
    2. Jenkins (software)
      Jenkins is a free and open source automation server. It helps automate the parts of software development related to building, testing, and deploying, facilitating continuous integration and continuous delivery. It is a server-based system that runs in servlet containers such as Apache Tomcat. It supports version control tools, including AccuRev, CVS, Subversion, Git, Mercurial, Perforce, ClearCase and RTC, and can execute Apache Ant, Apache Maven and sbt based projects as well as arbitrary shell scripts and Windows batch commands. History The Jenkins project was originally named Hudson, and was renamed after a dispute with Oracle, which had forked the project and claimed rights to the project name. The Oracle fork, Hudson, continued to be developed for a time before being donated to the Eclipse Foundation. Oracle's Hudson is no longer maintained and was announced as obsolete in February 2017.Around 2007 Hudson became known as a better alternative to Cruise Control and other open-source build-servers. At the JavaOne conference in May 2008 the software won the Duke's Choice Award in the Developer Solutions category...

    Anybody got #Jenkins installed on a Mac? despite using sudo, get lots of "Operation not permitted" looking for files.

    I am unable to install new plugins. I was able to upgrade plugins though. it looks like there is no initialAdminPassword file. I wonder if it might be in the logs somewhere, but I don't know where the logs are.

    Is there anything common in #Jenkins that would cause plugin downloads to get corrupt? I don't have a lot of information. I'm a little suspicious of RAM and disk, but

    Starting health checks at Fri Sep 18 08:36:22 EDT 2020
    Health check results at Fri Sep 18 08:36:22 EDT 2020:
    * disk-space: Result{isHealthy=true, timestamp=2020-09-18T08:36:22.870-04:00}
    * plugins: Result{isHealthy=true, message=No failed plugins, timestamp=2020-09-18T08:36:22.870-04:00}

    * thread-deadlock: Result{isHealthy=true, timestamp=2020-09-18T08:36:22.871-04:00}

    Now, I don't have full confirmation that the issue is continuing this morning, but that seems likely given other information.

    I don't have any information about a proxy at this point.

    My team is hosting a virtual conference in October (maybe it's September). I think it is just for current customers. A user group meeting of sorts.

    In any case, I don't know if the presentations themselves will see the public web, but I can certainly share here some of what I learn along the way.

    Basically any #freesoftware is fair game, although we don't typically do much with #bsd. What would you like to know about? #java #jenkins #configurationascode #cloud #orchestration #linux.

    I guess I need to figure out if it needs to be an application we support. We support a bunch of stuff though, so I wouldn't worry too much about that when suggesting topics.

    #jobposting

    I'm not sure what the hold-up is on the public listing. I suppose this will be my last post on the matter until it's actually up.

    My team in Minneapolis !minnesota is hiring. There is nothing public yet, but if you're looking, hit me up.

    A bunch of our stuff is #opensource (BSD two-clause for just about everything...maybe everything), and all of it has free trials, so https://www.perforce.com/downloads and https://swarm.workshop.perforce.com/

    We support products on Windows, Mac, and #Linux. Occasionally, you might see some old Solaris or BSD servers (or some other random stuff), but that really doesn't happen much.

    We support #git and #Jenkins integrations, as well as #maven and a bunch of other stuff I don't ever touch, but people on my team do.

    Apache knowledge would be useful, but not required. My colleague who started the same day I did doesn't really do any scripting. He's pretty much a pure server performance guy. That said, we support APIs for #ruby, #python, #js, #groovy, #perl, #java, #c++ and #php. Also, #C knowledge would be useful

    Basically, if you have any cross-platform experience at all, and are technical, you'd be a good fit.
