According to #NOAA / #NWS, this one is over Baxter Springs #KS, moving E at 30MPH. Radar indicated rotation.
Affected areas include #I-44 between mile markers 0 and 13, #I-49 between mile markers 30 and 35.

#NOAA / #NWS issuing flood warnings for SW and mid #MO. Highway department reports flooding on roads NE, E, SE, S of Springfield ... including #I-44 through Lebanon and Rolla.

Currently a severe #t-storm is located over Galena and Joplin #MO, moving SE at 20MPH ... ping pong ball sized hail, 60MPH wind gusts
Areas affected include #I44 between mile markers 0 and 11, #I49 between mile markers 22 and 35, Joplin, Neosho, and a bunch of smaller towns.

The MODOT site shows closures on #I-70, #I-44, #I-49. Some highways in the area around Springfield #MO are “covered”, presumably with snow.
Depending on the area, wind chills are still as low as -25F. It may be a good idea to stay home if you can.

#I-44: St Robert, #MO, is a town with a Walmart and about ten restaurants (including a diner with a metallic skin that reminds me of the old Airstream trailers). A convenient place for a potty break when I was traveling between offices last year.

#NOAA / #NWS issuing severe #t-storm warning for SW #MO. Springfield, Nixa, Battlefield, Ozark, including portions of #I-44. Map looks like Branson is also affected, so there could be similar storms in NW #AR.

Arrived at the #hotel. I think the GPS SatNav device took me on the hilly-est, winding-est two-lane highways it could find. Probably could have cut one or two hours out of today's drive time by sticking to the major routes that I already know, like #I-70, #I-64, #I-55, #I-44. #MO-47? What was that device thinking?
