    @simsa04 #sonOne tells me that #GS1 is taking one college class and that he's got a history of walking into relatively decent paying jobs even without training.

    He suggests that #GS2 may need a psychiatric evaluation for something like ADHD. But he's living with his grandmother, so there's no one to make sure it happens.

    Oldest grandson #GS1 is too old for federal / state youth job training programs. I think his brother #GS2 has about a year left.

    The younger boy works at a gas station minimart and is not motivated to do anything to change that.

    ( #GS2 still lives about three hours drive time away, so he has not been exposed to his family’s viruses. )

    Given that #GS2 is 24 and #GS1 is 26, I'm a bit confused how old #GS3 might be. But I suppose that a 20-something #GS3 should be capable of operating walkie talkies. Fortunately he's already able to unlock a door. :-)

    Going to #videochat with #GS3 and #GS4 today and hopefully tomorrow as well. Tomorrow I will also attempt to videochat with #GD1 and #GD2, and will attempt to make up last weekend's missed chat with #A1, #A2, #A3.

    (In case you're wondering, I'm not attempting to set up a chat this weekend with 24 year old #GS2 nor 26 year old #GS1. I will try to get in touch with GS1 for a chat some time in August, and try to have a voice call with GS2 later this year.)

    I ordered some baby gates. #GS3 is opening doors and getting in places that it is best if he doesn't.

    Moving with a 3 year old and a 1 year old sounds like an interesting experience. The prior house had been child proofed before he was born. With this one, they are still installing the special latches on cabinet doors, special electrical outlets, special door handle covers that require hand strength*, and so on.

    * When his cousin #GS2 (now 24) was 10, he still did not have a strong enough grip to open doors with those handle covers. I remember having to open doors for him.

    I decided to get I heart NY mugs for everyone. All three boys and their wives, my mom, the sister and #lazyNephew who live in the same house as I do, and #GS1 and #GS2. I walked into this gift shop and bought a whole mess of mugs. And now I think I still need a couple more.

    I haven’t been doing it since Puerto Rico, but it is traditional that the grandkids all get t-shirts with the local university’s name and logo. I have not started looking for those yet.

    It is also time to start thinking about replacing my backpack. I’ve only had it for a couple of months (I bought it in New Jersey #NJ)

    Picked something for #A1 ... I will probably send the same thing to #GD2 and #GS2 (despite him being 5.5 years younger than the recommended age ... if the parents handle it for him, it will be okay).     I should clarify that the two oldest boys ( #GS1, age 25; #GS2, age 23 ) and the oldest girl ( #GD1, age 14 ) are the only ones old enough for vaccination until now.

    I need to check with #GS2 to see whether he’s continuing to build things with #Raspberry_Pi computers and #Arduino microcontrollers. When he was in #SoCal a few years ago, he was building something or other … until he angered the family members he was staying with. They put him on a plane with just the things he could fit in his backpack.

    (He was already an adult, working part-time at a local fast food chain.)

    #GD2’s book shipment arrived today. #sonOne says he’s going to continue their daddy-daughter book club and reward her for each book she completes and is able to discuss in their club.

    When her brother #GS2 was this age (9) or a little older, I had suggested something similar, but it never happened. I’m glad to see this happening with this amazing little girl.

    #GS2 was offered a free piano when he was in middle school. He had heard the school band play a certain song, so he sounded it out on a neighbor's piano. She wanted to give it to him, so he could take lessons and practice. #sonOne's wife said the child wasn't going to be willing to practice, so she refused the gift.

    Also got a Fathers' Day message from #sonOne on #Wire ... including a continuation of our discussion about trying to get #GS1 and #GS2 some vocational training. They moved out, so he cannot just enroll them at the local job training center.

    #sonOne was teaching his boys ( #GS1 and #GS2 ) the national capitals of various countries. They didn't grasp it until the funny one (Bangkok). They learned that one quickly. Junior High minds.

    They're now in their twenties. I don't know if they remember Paris or Moscow, but I'm sure they still know Bangkok.
