I know I talked about setting up an open #Florence instance a while back, but after taking a deep look at finances and future plans, that is not currently an option.
Sorry to anyone who's been waiting for me and/or hoping I'd set something up.
If anyone else is looking to set up a Florence instance, I might be open to co-administrating it - I just can't pay for any of it.
Long meeting for #Florence today, reminds me that we need to have some of these discussions during the week, not the meetings. Meetings are supposed to be for decisions to be added to notes and shared with the public.
I had a fantastic first day at #RWOT9. I got to know a lot of new people, even though I was being shy in the beginning. Sorry if we met and I was being awkward, tomorrow should be better!
Nice evening dinner with @rhiaro, @cwebber and some other cool folks. And I got to talk about #Florence and #Tusky and possible futures of the web!
Hey, does anyone know of any projects which utilizes an equity based model for distributing funds within the project?
We're researching it for #Florence, as it's how we'd like to distribute funds, and are looking to see if there are other projects we can get inspired by, or if we need to start from scratch (Why reinvent the wheel?).
Thanks in advance for any response, and boosts π
Would florence.elfmound.dk be an interesting instance name for anyone around here? This would be a semi-open instance of #Florence, aiming for a population of ~100 to hopefully create a small community. I'm considering buying that domain for that and other purposes.
"The Elf Mound" is a fairytale by beloved danish 19th century author Hans Christian Andersen.
@mirzaba@tiden Regarding laurelai and kaniini's involvement in #Florence: they are both active on the github, for now.
However, Laurelai was removed from the team when we rebooted as Florence, from ForkTogether. And have not had any real involvement since the first few meetings last summer, where she basically stopped any progress for the project. We didn't make it a big announcement of this, but presented who did reboot with us.
How many people would show up if I set up a #florence invite-only instance?
I've seen a few people asking around for one.
_if_ I did set one up, I'd put a predefined hard limit on sign-ups (probably three digits) and I'd appreciate help with moderation; not to mention getting a decent CoC in place before launch.
But yeah, we would love to hear more about this for future development of #florence, sounds like you could benefit from what someone's referred to as Bunker mode before.
After a few day's discussion (my sense of time is fucked), I definitely feel like the consensus is: * We need to look at the bigger picture * We need to just create better, across the board, anti-harassment features and privacy settings. * We need to look at long-term concerns, vs short-term gains.
I think it's time we start breaking it down in a bigger shared space. Anyone up for that? This invite is to all fediverse
#Florence isn't only about forking #Mastodon, we also want to collaborate with other #ActivityPub implementations across the #fediverse to improve every user's experience.
If you are involved with another project developing an AP-compatible service, Would you be interested in joining our Chat server (Mattermost) to collaborate on creating a better fediverse and possibly improve AP?
7 day vote, & for us to create a team and subsequently invite you all as a reply to this post.
