#FL is known for bizarre behavior, so IMO this isn't out of the ordinary. What's weird is the department saying people are safe after this officer put people's lives in danger for no apparent reason.
She also told me that there have recently been severe thunderstorms from #TX to #FL. Those #t-storms have produced some #tornadoes, too. I knew there had been an alert in #MS because I saw someone there discussing it.
During tonight’s #videochat, #GS3 told me more about Tropical Cyclone Mocha and especially about Tropical Storm Arlene. He knows that Arlene was near #FL, where his other grandparents live. He had not seen that Arlene broke apart, so he was concerned about them.
#GS4 didn’t say a lot. He told me that some of his berries yesterday were “greenberries”, not blueberries.
#GS5 looked grumpy. Then he quickly smiled twice at me, then returned to his grumpy look.
I don’t have budget for it right now, but the kids need hats with big floppy brims, sunglasses, and sunscreen.
I made sure not to watch the Weather Channel / weather\.com site, because am not thrilled by watching someone standing in the wind and rain, telling us how bad it is.
#GS3 did want to check on the wurricanes at mid-day today, so we looked a bit at #Hurricane #Ian as it slid into the #FL coast. He asked about storm surge (which is a term I only heard in the past 3-5 years; I have been watching weather and visiting weather sites for much longer) so we talked about the ocean water covering people's houses.
The 12:00 Eastern Time update lists storm surge of up to 18 feet above normally dry ground. That is in addition to any tides and in addition to any fresh water flooding due to rainfall. #Hurricane #Ian is extremely dangerous for #FL. Probably even worse than #Fiona was for #PR.
#FL Governor fights against court order. He is trying to prevent school districts from requiring masks.
There’s a simple solution: If an unmasked person gives #COVID-19 to someone else, make them responsible for the affected person’s medical costs, lost wages, and such. In the case of students at schools, make the parents of the infector responsible for the costs. (If the infector is an adult, they can bear the responsibility themselves.)
Surely Florida’s Governor’s fight for personal and parental responsibility includes financial liability.
People chased out of the part of the building that did not collapse left pets behind, but were never permitted back into the building to retrieve them. When they demolished that part of the building, one can presume the pets were all killed in the collapse.
Yep. #NOAA / #NHC announcing PTC3 just South of #Louisiana ... though if it does become a #TropStorm, I'd expect it to be East of its current center, with most of the activity being in #FL and #AL.https://www.nhc.noaa.gov/
