I don't have anything drafted yet, but I will soon circulate drafts of new !fnetworks #TOS / #Privacy_Policy / #Copyright_Policy documents. If you have a currently active account on one of our instances, please contact me with current #XMPP and #e-mail information.
In fact, the ultimate comms #UX might be a native client that could speak #email, #XMPP, and #Jami protocols. It would accept messages from either #Jabber or email servers, and deliver them to either a chat UI or a long-form email, depending on message length (a sane default # of characters that users can change in settings). When XMPP presence protocols and/or Jami protocols told users contacts are online, they could make a voice/video call using Jami protocols.
We need more examples of people using #ProtonMail, #FastMail, alt private and cool companies for hosting #email, after a year. Like, everyone compares them on paper, but who has been somewhere for a year or more, and what do you have to say about it?
As someone who's done both, I will say that no one ever accused me of being selfish by being #vegan, but I did get that by not using #Facebook. I "It's selfish of you to demand that people contact you the way you want them to, rather than using their preferred way of communicating (Facebook in this case)". For the record, I never demanded they contact me at all. Meanwhile #email, text, #Wire, #xmpp, #NextCloud talk and phone can all reach me.
@wiktor As I've said a lot recently, there's no reason an email client can't use both #email protocols and #XMPP protocols to provide a seamless delayed and realtime messaging experience, using a unified address book. We know it's possible, because #GMail and #GTalk did it. #Thunderbird have started to do it, but the UX needs a *lot* of work. Why are no webmail clients doing it? @stevenroose
#security #privacy #privatsphäre #email #werbung netzpolitik.org/2018/google-gi…
Understaffed and poorly staffed (clueless writers), tech press demonstrates today that it does not know how #email works and is willing to tell any lies available in order to sell a story (with ads)
