Yeah, I guess you could say that I'm into #datascience, but even when I use old hardware, I'm not at the point yet where I can heat my house by running models.

@zacts R's pretty cool for working with #math / #stats; I've read that for putting models together, people that regularly use #Python for other tasks build the statistical model and play around with it in #rLang.

I was using it to practice #programming and working with stats, especially trying out #dataScience stuff. :)

A student in my class unwittingly presented a beautiful example of exploratory data analysis. I tried to explain that it's a great career skill in #dataScience, but they kept misunderstanding what I was talking about. 😥 #college

Lately I've come to really appreciate just how badly things can get within an organization when there's even just one person that doesn't work well with others.

Maybe one's #Github profile primarily conveys whether they can work well with others and only secondarily their degree of technical proficiency/aptitude. I'm struggling to think of similar platforms for demonstrating such (interpersonal and constructive/work) skills. Data.world might be a good for this, for #statistics, #datascience.

The #datascience club I've been attending has gone from kinda making sense to me, to me copying and pasting commands into the terminal and hoping that the exercises aren't just elaborate spot-the-n00b jokes. #personal #college #scriptKiddies

@thor @skypage @rochelimit Tech people are pretty good about forming meetups, for instance, but learning about the meetups can be more difficult than you'd think it could be (if broadcast decently). For instance, there's a #datascience club on my campus that's pretty quality, and the people running it seemed to have no interest in talking with non-compsci students about it, much less promoting it outside #compsci. #marketing
