My youngest niece, #LG, texted me to tell me it is a sunny morning. I looked outside at the snow falling and looked at the clock (noon) and thought she was missing half the day.

But no, she's currently in SoCal ... though I think she's moving back to #CO soon.

It's pretty demoralizing to never get any responses from anyone but @lnxw48a1, but I am nothing if not persistent.

I realize I could interact more and gain more followers and I could post more. Maybe I'll give Mastodon a shot a see if I get more interaction there. I don't think I've joined an instance but maybe I have.

    Anyway...

    My team is looking!

Requirements (I mean, that's what HR calls them, but not really...):
Expert level in a number of open source packages.
    Broad and deep familiarity with multiple projects to include #Java and #J2EE, #JBoss, #ActiveMQ, #Drools, #HornetQ, #Hibernate, #Spring, #Linux (focus primary on #CentOS or #Ubuntu), #Apache #HTTPD, Apache #Tomcat, #MySQL, #PostgreSql, #Opensource project and community participation and Production/24x7 experience.
Database administration; #postgresql/ #mysql/ #mariadb experience very desirable
    Expertise in #Cassandra, #Kafka, and/or #cloudnative applications is a plus.

Minimum of five years of software development and design or systems administration or level 3-4 technical support experience.
Technical knowledge, skills and expertise in complex infrastructure, web-based software and enterprise software
Understanding of software best practices; #SDLC, #SCM and #Agile development principles.
Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills

Role: Open Source Staff Engineer/Solutions Architect
    Location: #Louisville, #CO or #Minneapolis, #MN

    Position Summary:
Perforce is seeking a Open Source Staff Engineer/Solutions Architect to join our OpenLogic team. As a member of the support team, you’ll be responsible for assisting our clients to work through their technical questions on open source including ‘how to’, trouble shooting and recommendations on product use. Additionally, based on needs of our customers, you will be involved in presenting training classes (both onsite and remote depending on need of the client); short-term professional service engagements to assist with architect and design solutions; working on internal projects; and enhancing current skills by continuing to learn new open source technologies.

OpenLogic provides enterprise services for hundreds of open source projects — including #OpenJDK, #Kubernetes, CentOS, and #MariaDB — so you can boost efficiency and savings with free software, while cutting risk.

    Responsibilities:
Interact with end users on technical problems.
Tier 1, 2 and 3 support for CentOS and related open source products.
Drive resolution of those problems, which include:
    Open source software issues.
Questions around open source software usage.
Questions around use and best practices.
Review of the architecture and design where software is implemented.
Conduct professional services and training engagements.
Research, understand, and advocate open source software.
Interact with various open source communities.
    Drive early resolution of issues.
Be a part of the on-call rotation.
Present knowledge via articles, blogs, and conference presentations.
May require 15% travel while completing on-site consulting.

If you would like to be a 2021 (the award are announced in 2021, but the entry year will be 2020) regional judge for the CC Community Music Awards, get at me.

These are the current regions where we need people:
    #GreatLakes (#IL, #IN, #MI, #OH)
    #Midwest (#IA, #KS, #MN, #MO, #NE, #ND, #SD, #WI)
    #South (#AL, #AR, Commonwealth of #PuertoRico, #FL, #LA, #MS)
    #Southeast (#GA, #KY, #NC, #SC, #TN, #WV)
    #Southwest (#AZ, #CO, #NM, #OK, #TX, #UT)
    #West (#CA, #HI, #NV)
    #Canada, #CentralAmerica, and #Caribbean (other than #PR)
    #Europe
    #Africa
    #Pacific (including #Australia)
    #SouthAmerica

Please feel free to translate this post into whatever language would be useful for finding people in the region, but please note that I speak only English, so it will be difficult for me to coordinate with someone that does not speak at least some English.

If some wants to step up and be a coordinator for Spanish or some other language, we would love the help.

I am going to try to keep up with this as a dailyish post until I accounted for all of the regions.

    My bedroom is 59F / 15C, 19% humidity. It’s 40F / 4C, 41% outside. This is a lot warmer than places like #CO, #WY, #MI; without being too hot, like #FL and #PR.

    Remote profile options...

One of the big things I'm taking-away so far reading the platform #co-op book is that we really need a standards-based reputation/identity system.

I remember reading some protocol-level work on this a few years back when I was getting into #unhosted architectures.

Clearly something that demands a decentralized approach.

Something cool that I just realized about #co-ops is that by their nature they are valuable to the community they exist in vs. tourists, etc.

This is important in rural communities where so many businesses focus on attracting and serving "outsiders" that the needs of the locals are often neglected.
