@gamehawk @kelbot We have crossing guards in #SoCal, but they walk out into the street holding little stop signs. There is usually a sheriff's deputy on-site so drivers comply. We still have loads of people in the car line waiting to pick up their kids. ( #sonTwo's mom's place was close enough to the middle school that she could stand in the driveway and watch him walk home, but she still drove over to pick him up. )
