If you see a headline tomorrow "44-year-old Hong Kong man killed by own moving box full of books" that's me.
But I think I'll be fine, almost there.
-
I made it.
The story is that I thought the taxi would be allowed to drive right up to my tower, but it turns out it wasn't allowed onto that floor of the parking because it was all monthly parking, not hourly.
So instead of carrying my box a couple of meters it was a couple of hundred meters and that made the box a bit heavier on my arms than I had anticipated.

My brain doesn't do "moving day". I take a week and let things peter over, it is the only way. After I moved some stuff I'll know what stuff is left to move.
My new place has now reached critical mass, so it's livable when the furniture comes over on Monday. Just needs the core kitchen stuff.
-
@Jason Self Thank you.
I am indeed moving, and it is an improvement in every way as well as a new chapter.
-
@clacke Congratulations on the move. Does the new tower have shopping downstairs like the old one did?
I got to see some of that when I was in #NYC. Some hotels are only on upper floors, with apartments, stores and restaurants lower down.
-
@clacke After a couple of times of taking the stairs 40+ floors down during a fire alarm, I'm not a big fan of high buildings anymore. (They were false alarms, but I'd rather try to escape down the stairs than find myself trapped above a fire.)

@LinuxWalt (@lnxw48a1) {3EB165E0-5BB1-45D2-9E7D-93B31821F864} It has a huge mall downstairs! Sushi, burgers, pizza, Vietnamese, everything.
Actually the grocery shopping is slightly worse now (to contradict my "[every single thing is better]" in the comment earlier), because the old place has the supermarket right around the corner from the lift whereas this one has it at the other end of the mall. Also I need to take two lifts and the one from the 50+ floor takes over a minute. Oh no, six minutes more round trip! π

@LinuxWalt (@lnxw48a1) {3EB165E0-5BB1-45D2-9E7D-93B31821F864} The coolest hotel in HK, the Ritz-Carlton in the International Commerce Centre, starts on the 104th floor! Below is slightly less than 100 floors of office space, each big investment bank having a few floors to itself, and below that several floors of shopping mall.

@scolobb You can see my comments to @LinuxWalt (@lnxw48a1) {3EB165E0-5BB1-45D2-9E7D-93B31821F864} on Pleroma?
But you can't see his comments, right?
-
@clacke Unless their instance hasn't been updated in a while, they cannot see us. Yet.
-
@scolobb Not Pleroma vs Mastodon. Pleroma (v2+), Mastodon (v3+) etc on ActivityPub vs pre-v2 GNU Social on OStatus.

@LinuxWalt (@lnxw48a1) {3EB165E0-5BB1-45D2-9E7D-93B31821F864} Yeah I just thought my comments to you would be invisible too. I just said in libranet.de/display/0b6b25a8-5β¦ that they would be and then immediately got this counterevidence. =)
