There are already people angry about the European Union setting up its instance, and people angry about a US Government agency opening an account on infosec.exchange.
In both cases, they are dead wrong, just like the #blockwars / \#fediblock people are. The #Fediverse is for everyone. Right or left wing or no wing at all. Government agencies, corporations, churches, non-profit organizations, individuals, groups, families, small businesses. Everyone.
The network derives its utility from the ability of people on instance A to interact with people on instance B, so indiscriminate instance-to-instance blocking and mobs chasing people away only makes the network less useful for everyone.

When I think that already in 2016 I found (the prospect of) instance blocking and the smug reaction to critique by some admins (from the open blabla, "pregressive", and SJW corner) just narrow-minded and stupid...
Interesting that only now did this topic gain some traction. Perhaps it needed the dominance of one network (Mastodon servers) in the #fediverse in order for virtue blocking to display its tremendously negative and harmful consequences.
In the end we wil have one silo dispersed over many instances (the Mastodon network) and a few niche projects which will shrink to more or less peer-to-peer instances, sharing not much else than what they themselves publish. As subscriptions between "users" will get curtailed, The Mastodon silo will become a Twitter clone — not in its structure but in its style of communication and corresponding content.
