Laserdisc was one (related technology is still in use with CDs, DVDs, and Blu-rays), sponsored by (I think) Pioneer and Magnavox. RCA's CED was another.
I never actually saw a player for any of those formats until I was at a thrift store about four years back and saw a CED player with a couple of discs.- DJ Sundog - from the toot-lab and Brandon Hall like this.
