This question is about a !raspberrypi !rpi but could probably pertain to !linux as well - I have two ethernet ports that have connections to a network.
How do I tell program A to use this port, while telling program B to use that port?
I'm not sure what to search for in this case.

@harmlessgryphon If you want to use them in the same subnet: I don't know of a way (or maybe with iptables?). Or use 2 different subnets.

@harmlessgryphon @mcscx The traditional way to do this (e.g., with Apache and another web server) is to assign each Ethernet port a separate IP address, and then tell one program to use address X, and the other program to use address Y.

@lnxw48a1yes, some server software like Samba and Postfix support specifying the listening IP or NIC. @harmlessgryphon

@mcscx @lnxw48a1 I may be able to do it with Postfix, since the primary goal of the second network is an emergency "The main network is down" notification.
