If something more stable is what I need, openSUSE Leap is what I tend to use in that case. I love the Mandriva-derived distros as I started with Mandrake 9, but the openSUSE ecosystem is the most flexible, expansive, and user friendly of all the other options I have seen out there... very addicting.
