I find it amusing how people still think Ubuntu is the most user-friendly #GNU distro with #Linux in it, and that the #Debian installer hasn't changed since 1990. What about #Trisquel? Or #Mint? Or #Elementary? Or any one of a hundred other distros that just as noob-friendly, use less resources idling, and have never bundled #AmazonLens spyware. Ubuntu is so last decade. Catch up people!

If Canonical was bought by Microsoft it would be embarrassing for some of the staff who were there in the early years but it wouldn't be disastrous for GNU/Linux as a whole. I'm not sure about Elementary, but Trisquel and Mint are based on Ubuntu. I think it would be entirely feasible for them to switch to a Debian base if Ubuntu no longer existed or became filled with Microsoft patents.
