Well, there is a 3rd choice: walk downstairs, but not all the way. But you need to get below the floor with the fire _and_ hope that the upper floors don't collapse. <br /><br /> I don't know what the answer is, but high rises need a better escape plan than that. <br /><br /> (Another factor in New York is that many buildings are pretty old, so they don't have modern structural improvements. The code on the card is wrong. The (optional) phone number is missing. The zip code is wrong. (My zip code, or the museum's zip code? I have tried both.)
