My main laptop is running Kubuntu 20.04, but rather than upgrade to 22.04, I think I want to wipe it and install the latest Devuan instead. I want to default to #<span class="tag"><a href="https://nu.federati.net/tag/devuan" rel="tag">Devuan</a></span>, with an occasional #<span class="tag"><a href="https://nu.federati.net/tag/debian" rel="tag">Debian</a></span> (or #<span class="tag"><a href="https://nu.federati.net/tag/ubuntu" rel="tag">Ubuntu</a></span> family, or #<span class="tag"><a href="https://nu.federati.net/tag/linuxmint" rel="tag">Linux_Mint</a></span>) then use other distros on an as needed basis.<br /><br /> I have one computer at home that runs #<span class="tag"><a href="https://nu.federati.net/tag/nixos" rel="tag">NixOS</a></span> and one that runs #<span class="tag"><a href="https://nu.federati.net/tag/opensuse" rel="tag">OpenSuse.</a></span> I'm likely to keep the SuSE machine running that software, but NixOS is too different and too bleeding edge for someone who regularly leaves home for a year.

After @<a href="https://nu.federati.net/user/16" class="h-card u-url p-nickname mention">geniusmusing</a> mentioned that #<span class="tag"><a href="https://nu.federati.net/tag/linuxmint" rel="tag">LinuxMint</a></span> no longer offered a #<span class="tag"><a href="https://nu.federati.net/tag/kde" rel="tag">KDE</a></span> desktop, I had to visit the site and see for myself. Heβs right. <br /> <br /> I did see an article fon <a href="https://blog.linuxmint.com/" title="https://blog.linuxmint.com/" rel="nofollow external noreferrer" class="attachment" id="attachment-280938">https://blog.linuxmint.com/</a> from 2016 that was talking about their #<span class="tag"><a href="https://nu.federati.net/tag/kubuntu" rel="tag">Kubuntu</a></span> -derived KDE version, so it vanished within the past five years.<br /> <br /> I detest #<span class="tag"><a href="https://nu.federati.net/tag/gnome" rel="tag">GNOME</a></span> and barely tolerate many of the GNOME2 reboot desktops such as Cinnamon, so this is a big move to alienate people who want a useful and attractive desktop environment (and related applications that actually work).

<p><span class="h-card"><a href="https://nu.federati.net/lnxw48a1" class="u-url mention">@<span>lnxw48a1</span></a></span> Well for future reference, I'm a full-time <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/linuxmint" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>LinuxMint</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/mate" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>MATE</span></a> user. :) I keep forgetting to launch Pidgin when I restart my laptop and there's no built-in "run on startup" thing, in Pidgin. >_<</p>

<p>Would I be the first to point out that the new logo of <a href="https://mastodon.technology/tags/mastodon" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>mastodon</span></a> looks eerily similar to <a href="https://mastodon.technology/tags/linuxmint" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>linuxmint</span></a> logo?</p>
