Chicago seems like an obvious place if we were going to do midwest, but the problem is I'm not there, and I don't have a ready-made person to work on it there. It's just more work to get them in the fold. We probably know enough people in Madison to make it happen, even with me not there, but Twin Cities probably makes the most sense if it's something I'm going to be doing. I should talk to Ty though. He's already doing Mad with Power. Hell, maybe Mad with Power could just do this in 2019.966877http://activitystrea.ms/schema/1.0/post2018-03-30T16:16:52+00:002018-03-30T16:16:52+00:00http://activitystrea.ms/schema/1.0/personhttps://nu.federati.net/user/12musicmanI do 100% free software work (although my employer purchases non free tools to make this happen...sigh). I wish I had a breakdown of who voted for what. I think netlabels don't see this aspect since we (speaking as a blocSonic owner here) take care of the licensing. It is, admittedly, super-annoying when a netlabel release is under one license and the band doesn't take the time to use that license on their own page. I don't personally see this as a huge problem, but it does require some book-keeping.

But it does bring up an interesting thought about non-CC netlabels. I don't think there are a ton of them, but it's not something I've done a ton of research on.

Also, while Music Manumit is a podcast, it's an entirely different sort of beast than what the two of you do. There's a lot less searching for us on a per-week basis, although we did formerly have to deal with the whole -ND thing...which we finally got sick of a removed...plus, we decided it might be interesting to see why bands pick -ND. So, I guess there's an educational component there.966803http://activitystrea.ms/schema/1.0/post2018-03-30T15:43:00+00:002018-03-30T15:43:00+00:00http://activitystrea.ms/schema/1.0/personhttps://nu.federati.net/user/12musicmanI do 100% free software work (although my employer purchases non free tools to make this happen...sigh). It would be a way for bands to experiment with the license, which fulfills the educational piece a lot of the the "Other" have been talking about.

Although it's limited, I do have some festival experience. It's a huge undertaking. Doing it would mean someone else would need to take over the #CCMA, or the CCMA would need to go dormant for a while. I need to talk to Tom and Mike, but I don't think it's impossible.966766http://activitystrea.ms/schema/1.0/post2018-03-30T15:28:23+00:002018-03-30T15:28:23+00:00http://activitystrea.ms/schema/1.0/personhttps://nu.federati.net/user/12musicmanI do 100% free software work (although my employer purchases non free tools to make this happen...sigh).
