They need all the help they can get, because they're battling stupid bugs like this every single day.

WebKit (Safari) is no less amazing for the comeback they've pulled off in the past few years, although they have fewer interop pressures. Web devs make sure their sites work in Safari, because the CEO has an iPhone.
2865203http://activitystrea.ms/schema/1.0/post2019-04-14T03:02:16+00:002019-04-14T03:02:16+00:00http://activitystrea.ms/schema/1.0/personhttps://toot.cafe/users/nolannolanπΊ.β admin, Mastodon contributor, web dev at Salesforce. It's so boring. It's stuff like "this website broke because it was queuing requestAnimationFrame and setTimeout callbacks and measuring the duration between the two, and browsers were subtly different in their timings."

No browser vendors talk about this, because it would put you to sleep. Instead they talk about "standards," which are often niche, wonk-y features that no website is actually using.
2865193http://activitystrea.ms/schema/1.0/post2019-04-14T02:47:13+00:002019-04-14T02:47:13+00:00http://activitystrea.ms/schema/1.0/personhttps://toot.cafe/users/nolannolanπΊ.β admin, Mastodon contributor, web dev at Salesforce. This is a good post about how browsers approach "standards," and how controlling the narrative is often as important as actually fixing interop bugs.
2865190http://activitystrea.ms/schema/1.0/post2019-04-14T02:44:54+00:002019-04-14T02:44:54+00:00http://activitystrea.ms/schema/1.0/personhttps://toot.cafe/users/nolannolanπΊ.β admin, Mastodon contributor, web dev at Salesforce.
